Passion Guideboook
For many creatives, art can sometimes feel more like 'work' than a passion, despite our deep love for creating. This guidebook is designed to reignite that love by reconnecting us with the pure joy of art for art’s sake. Through immersing ourselves in nature, including 20 carefully selected spots for outdoor painting,we might just break free from routine and rediscover our creative flow.
Design a guidebook that includes 20 locations for plein air painting; highlighting your top 3 spots.
☆Interpretation & thinking
While I wanted this to be an informational guidebook, I wanted it to look like it was designed by a creative. Since I wanted this to breakaway from the conventional art we may do for work, the design should be experimental, fun, and capture the freedom of painting outdoors.

☆ Experimentation.
My first iterations included a lot of experimentation, using different styles, tools, and distortion effects to create unique quotes.
☆ Graphics.
I incorporated / designed a variety of shapes and graphics to create a more inviting tone and encourage exploration.
☆ Visual elements.
Adding in visual elements pushed through the artsy, carefree feel of the quotes.
☆ Colors.
I ultimately decided against using too many to allow focus on the content.
☆ Creating a system.
In order to create a system, I applied the same treatment throughout the guidebook.
☆ Fun, carefree & informational.
The combination of the bright pink color, fun graphics, and spaced out, open layout really push through this fun and carefree vibe that I strived for. Not only is it captivating to look through, it provides information on the best San Diego parks to visit to get away from it all.
